ABOUT ME
Trailblazing Broadcaster Turned Confidence Coach & Keynote Speaker
I’ve been using the power of my voice my whole life. I’m a former Radio 1 and Top of the Pops presenter turned voiceover artist, film critic and podcaster.
My own midlife pivot included an Open University BSc in Psychology then a Masters in Cultural Inequalities at LSE – and finally overcoming my lifelong struggle with panic attacks and fragile self-confidence. Now, drawing on my extensive media career, my training as a Women’s Centred Transformational Coach, and my love of culture and its ability to inspire, I create spaces for women and their allies to reflect, get playful, and claim their confidence and power.
As a Confidence Coach – I draw on cultural storytelling from a female perspective and powerful identity transformation to break midlife women out of toxic narratives that keep us playing small. Because we can’t live our best life without accessing our confident inner self, and unapologetically centring ourselves in our own lives.
As a Speaker - I deliver inspiring and engaging keynotes, workshops and presentations to organisations committed to challenging bias and empowering marginalised voices so they can build confident and fulfilling lives – both at work and home.
And as a voiceover artist, podcaster and broadcaster - I continue to use the power of my voice to share my story and empower others into a confident and fulfilling midlife.
HOW TO WORK WITH ME
Women’s Centred Coaching
I’ve trained with Dr Claire Zammit, whose evidence-based Women’s Centred Coaching (WCC) transformational framework breaks through the specific and ingrained inner barriers that hold women back. Importantly, WCC addresses the structural ways women’s limiting beliefs are developed and perpetuated via culture and taken-for-granted biases.
WCC’s powerful re-patterning of both mindset and behaviour enables clients to move beyond limiting beliefs that have suppressed deep desires, confidence and ambitions for decades. The WCC methodology delivers powerful real-world tangible results. This isn’t about blowing up your life. It’s about finally reclaiming your power and building the grounded confidence that’s key to an empowered and happy life.
My process
My methodology draws on my WCC training, Psychology degree, MSc in Cultural Inequalities, and overcoming my own life-long panic attacks and deep-rooted anxiety in midlife. I coach women into confidence from the inside out, tailoring to clients’ specific challenges. I tackle beliefs and core behaviour at source – because we learn as little girls how certain behaviours are rewarded, whilst others are punished. By adulthood, this understanding becomes part of who we are. However, in midlife, we often question our lives and yearn for more - yet there’s a mismatch between our ambitions and desires, and our self-belief around achieving them.
My coaching addresses both the personal and structural ways women’s confidence is diminished and facilitates powerful shifts at the level of identity. Client results include greater professional visibility, recognition and rewards; confident decision-making and boundary setting; elevated ambition and achievements; improved ability to access support and support others; better health and wellbeing; stronger and more authentic connection to self and others – and more.
Why you need a coach to build your Confidence…
We can access more information today than ever before – so if confidence could be boosted by knowing more facts, we’d all be sorted! The reality is that a lack of confidence is shaped in relationships with others: your family, teachers, friends, etc., along with the cultural messages about how women should carry themselves at home, work and beyond. Unconsciously, therefore, you’ve developed coping strategies and behavioural patterns you can’t perceive yourself.
The most effective and efficient way, therefore, to re-build self-confidence is also in relationship with others. As your coach, I fully assess your patterns, beliefs and behaviours. I then guide you through proven processes that build unshakeable confidence in a safe and growthful space. I support you to work through blind spots and take aligned action. In so doing, you build grounded and lasting confidence in steady yet rapid ways.
WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY…
“One of my biggest breakthroughs with Wendy was learning to cultivate unwavering confidence, even while navigating challenging changes in my personal, professional, and financial life.
Now, I can access a sense of calm whenever I need it, and I’m much more self-aware, allowing me to see the bigger picture with clarity and ease.
After each coaching session, I felt renewed motivation and inner strength, empowering me to take control of my future.
I can’t recommend Wendy enough for anyone looking to grow and thrive.”
“Wendy brings her keen mind and heart to every session. She listens with deep presence and guides you by asking questions that direct you to your own knowing.
I felt safe and held by Wendy as I explored what was important for me. She held me accountable in a very caring way. I felt seen and accepted. And I left the sessions with a clearer sense of where I was going and what I was going to do next.
I also need to mention that Wendy’s healing voice helped me relax and open. I highly recommend working with Wendy if you want a caring, adept coach who can connect you to your highest goals.”
“Wendy has a skillful way of asking precise and powerful questions that meant I could share with vulnerability. Wendy made me think more deeply about my challenges and find the way forward by connecting with my own deeper knowing.
She helped me to put things in perspective, supporting me to see the extent of the progress I have made while encouraging me to continue to move past my fears to take the next steps towards my vision. I felt uplifted and inspired after our sessions and was able to take the actions I needed to keep moving forward.
I highly recommend coaching with Wendy!”

The Queenager Debrief
Hear me coaching midlife reinvention - and ways to survive the maelstrom - on The Queenager Debrief with Eleanor Mills.
Each Debrief episode sees Eleanor and I reviewing her guest interviews and identifying how the hard-won insights of these inspiring midlife women - including Martha Lane-Fox, Carol Vorderman and Liz Earle – might apply to our own lives.
Because we’re never too old and it’s never too late to create positive change in our lives.
Open to Criticism
For too long film criticism has been overwhelmingly pale, male and stale. In 2023, after 30 years as a critic, I turned my LSE Masters’ research into this multi-award nominated podcast. Speaking to fellow critics and commentators, I explore how we talk about movies, who gets to do it and why it matters.
Featuring thought provoking and upbeat discussions about the feminist reframing of rom coms, queer critique, sexual representation, disability onscreen, and much more, Open to Criticism reveals the incredible impact onscreen culture has on all our lives and how it – and the world – still needs to change to better serve us all.
